Prostate Cancer Home > Pomegranate Supplements

Most people are familiar with eating the seeds or drinking the juice of pomegranates. However, you can now buy pomegranate extracts and supplements as well. Why are people trying to get extra pomegranate into their diet? Pomegranates supposedly have several medicinal benefits, such as preventing and treating conditions including atherosclerosis, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol.

Normal consumption of pomegranates as food is probably safe for most people. Although it does not seem likely that the fruit would cause problems, some people may experience allergic reactions or swelling of the mouth or throat. It is difficult to recommend a pomegranate "dosage" at this time, as research is still in its early stages.
