Zoladex® (goserelin acetate implant) is a prescription hormone medicine that is used to stop production of estrogen and testosterone. But what is the Zoladex implant used for?
A healthcare provider may prescribe a Zoladex implant for treating prostate cancer in adult men. Prostate cancer cells use testosterone to grow and multiply. Because Zoladex reduces the amount of testosterone produced by the testes, it can slow down the growth and progression of the cancer cells.
Zoladex is also approved for the treatment of advanced breast cancer and certain gynecological conditions (such as endometriosis).
