PROVENGE and Breastfeeding

No studies have been done to determine if PROVENGE (sipuleucel-T) passes through breast milk. However, this drug is only approved for use in men who have prostate cancer, so there is no reason for a woman (breastfeeding or not) to be receiving PROVENGE.

Can Breastfeeding Women Use PROVENGE?

PROVENGE® (sipuleucel-T) is a prescription medication approved for the treatment of certain types of prostate cancer. At this time, there is no information available on the use of this drug while breastfeeding.
 

More Information on PROVENGE and Breastfeeding

No research has been done on PROVENGE in nursing women. Therefore, it is unknown if the medication passes through breast milk. However, PROVENGE is only approved for use in men with prostate cancer. Therefore, it should not be used in any women, including women who are nursing.
 

Talking With Your Healthcare Provider

Because PROVENGE is only approved to treat prostate cancer in men, it is not intended for use in women and should not be used in women who are breastfeeding.
