Xtandi Chemotherapy Information

If you have prostate cancer, your healthcare provider may recommend Xtandi® (enzalutamide). Although this chemotherapy drug can be an effective treatment for many men, it's important to review the safety information before starting treatment to help avoid potentially dangerous complications. For example, you may not be able to take this medicine if you are taking certain medications, have a history of seizures, or have certain allergies.

Xtandi comes in the form of capsules that are taken by mouth once daily. Most people who take this medicine tolerate it fairly well. However, side effects are possible and include diarrhea, fatigue, and back pain.

Xtandi is specifically used to treat castration-resistant prostate cancer that has spread to other parts of the body. Castration-resistant prostate cancer is prostate cancer that has returned or progressed despite medical or surgical treatments to lower testosterone levels.
