Vantas Medication Information

Vantas® (histrelin implant) is a medicine prescribed to treat the symptoms of advanced prostate cancer that has spread to other areas of the body. It is available as an implant that is surgically inserted just under the skin of the upper arm. This product is specifically designed to gradually release a certain amount of medicine over a 12-month period.

Vantas works by decreasing testosterone levels in the body. This can help slow down the growth of testosterone-sensitive prostate cancer cells.

Although it is generally well tolerated, this drug is not suitable for everyone. Before using Vantas, make sure your healthcare provider has up-to-date information on your medical history and a list of your current medications. In particular, make sure to let your healthcare provider know if you have osteoporosis, diabetes, or heart disease.
