Trelstar Medication Information

Trelstar® (triptorelin pamoate) is a prescription medicine approved for advanced prostate cancer. It is a hormonal medication that belongs to a group of drugs called gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonists. Trelstar is given as an intramuscular, or IM, injection (an injection given into the muscle) every one, three, or six months. Although it may slow the progression of prostate cancer and ease symptoms, it is not a cure.

Common side effects include hot flashes, headache, and pain. Because not everyone should use Trelstar, the safety information for this medication should be reviewed with your healthcare provider before beginning treatment. For example, your healthcare provider needs to know if you have high blood pressure, kidney disease, or liver disease. You should also provide a list of all medicines and supplements you are taking.
