Prostate cancer is a medical condition that most commonly occurs in older men. It occurs when cancer cells have formed in the tissues of the prostate, which is located below the bladder and in front of the rectum. A man may have this disease for many years before symptoms develop. When they do occur, symptoms can include things like:
- Urinary problems
- Painful ejaculation
- Blood in the urine or semen.
Many treatment options are available for this disease. The choice of treatment(s) will depend on the cancer's stage and several other factors. Common options include:
- Watchful waiting
- Surgery
- Radiation therapy
- Hormone therapy.
