Fentanyl Nasal Spray Information
Fentanyl nasal spray (Lazanda®) is a medication licensed for the treatment of breakthrough cancer pain. Breakthrough pain refers to intense flares of pain that occur despite around-the-clock pain medication. This product is only approved for use in adults who are already used to the effects of opioid narcotics.
This prescription medication comes in the form of a nasal spray. The usual dose is one or two sprays into the nostril, as needed (but no more than four times a day). Side effects of the drug may include constipation, nausea, and vomiting.
Before using fentanyl nasal spray, make sure your healthcare provider has up-to-date information on any other drugs you are taking (including vitamins and supplements), as well as any allergies you may have, including to medications, foods, dyes, or preservatives.
