Casodex Medication Information

Stage IV prostate cancer is unlikely to be cured with surgery. Instead, treatment options may include hormone therapy, radiation, and chemotherapy. Casodex® (bicalutamide) is a type of hormone therapy used to treat advanced prostate cancer. It comes in tablet form and is taken once a day. It is used in combination with another prostate cancer medication.

Because this product is not appropriate for everyone, make sure your healthcare provider has complete information on any medications you are taking before starting Casodex. Also, you may not be able to take this drug if you have certain medical conditions, such as liver disease, diabetes, or anemia.

Although many people do not have any problems while taking Casodex, side effects can occur and may include hot flashes, pain, and weakness. Fortunately, if negative reactions do occur, they tend to be mild and easily treated.
