Available by prescription only, Trelstar® (triptorelin pamoate) is a prostate cancer medication that is given in the form of a shot (injection). It is a type of hormone treatment that works by reducing the amount of testosterone made by the body.
Trelstar is specially formulated so that the medicine is slowly released into the bloodstream. Depending on which strength of the drug your healthcare provider recommends, it is administered every one, three, or six months. Each dosage will be given in a healthcare setting, such as a doctor's office or clinic.
