Prostate Cancer Home > Pomegranate and Breastfeeding
No studies have been conducted on the safety of consuming pomegranates and breastfeeding at the same time. Although a normal dietary intake of pomegranates (through food or juice) is probably safe when breastfeeding, it may not be safe to consume high amounts of pomegranates. It is typically recommended that women avoid a high intake of pomegranates while they are breastfeeding.
An Overview of Pomegranate and Breastfeeding
Consuming pomegranates in the normal amounts found in foods is probably safe for women who are breastfeeding. However, it is not known if unusually high intakes (either through food or through pomegranate extracts or supplements) are also safe. Currently, if you are interested in obtaining the possible pomegranate health benefits while breastfeeding, it is probably safest to do this by including pomegranate fruit or juice into your diet, not by taking supplements or extracts. Is Pomegranate Safe While Breastfeeding?
