Lupron Depot Injections

Lupron Depot® (leuprolide acetate depot) is a long-acting medication that contains a synthetic form of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), which is a naturally occurring hormone that helps control the production of sex hormones in the body.

Lupron Depot is given by injection every one to four months. The dose you are prescribed will depend on the condition being treated and your response to it, among other things.

Injections of Lupron Depot should be administered into a muscle (intramuscularly) rather than under the skin (subcutaneously). The medicine will have no effect if taken by mouth. You can give the injections yourself; however, most people receive them at a healthcare facility.
