Lupron Depot Diabetes

Lupron Depot® (leuprolide acetate depot) is a prescription drug that belongs to a class of medications called gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonists. GnRH is a naturally occurring hormone that helps control the production of testosterone in men and estrogen in women. This makes it effective for conditions like prostate cancer and precocious puberty.

Using this drug may present certain diabetes-related risks. For example, Lupron Depot has been reported to cause high blood sugar levels and an increased risk for developing diabetes in men. Your healthcare provider should monitor your blood sugar levels during treatment.
