Jevtana Dosage

The recommended Jevtana dosage your healthcare provider prescribes will be based on several factors, such as your height and weight. You will also need to take an oral prednisone tablet every day during your treatment period, including the time between infusions. Jevtana is typically administered intravenously (by IV) once every three weeks.

An Introduction to Dosing With Jevtana

The dose of Jevtana® (cabazitaxel) your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on factors such as:

  • Your height
  • Your weight
  • How you respond to the medication.

As is always the case, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.

Jevtana Dosage for Prostate Cancer

Your healthcare provider will base your Jevtana dose on your body surface area, which is calculated using your height and weight. If you develop dangerous Jevtana side effects, your healthcare provider may need to lower your dosage and/or delay future treatments. The medication is typically given once every three weeks.

Jevtana is approved only for use in combination with oral prednisone tablets. The dosage in this situation is prednisone 10 mg once a day, every day, during the entire treatment period, even in between Jevtana doses.

To prevent allergic reactions, you should receive a corticosteroid, an antihistamine, and an H2 antagonist intravenously (by IV) at least 30 minutes before each dose of Jevtana. Your healthcare provider may also give you antinausea medications.

General Information on Receiving Jevtana

Some considerations to keep in mind during treatment with Jevtana include the following:

  • The IV is given over a period of one hour. However, the entire process (including giving the various medications before your Jevtana infusion) will take much longer.

  • Chemotherapy works best if you can receive it on schedule. However, if you develop serious side effects, your treatments may need to be postponed.

  • If you are unsure about anything related to dosing with Jevtana, please talk with your healthcare provider, nurse, or pharmacist.
