Men with advanced
prostate cancer may receive a drug by injection called Eligard
® (
leuprolide acetate). Although this medication cannot cure the disease, it can help provide relief from symptoms and may slow down the progression of the prostate cancer.
Most men receive Eligard injections at a healthcare facility; however, you can administer the injections yourself. Make sure your healthcare provider shows you exactly how to do this, and do not use any product that is cloudy or contains particles.
