Drug Interactions With Docetaxel
Docetaxel Interactions Explained
The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when docetaxel is combined with any of the drugs listed above.
Certain Antibiotics or Antifungals
Combining certain antibiotics or antifungals and docetaxel may increase the level of docetaxel in your blood, increasing your risk of docetaxel side effects. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking these medications together.
Certain Anticonvulsants
Combining docetaxel with certain anticonvulsants (seizure medications) can decrease the level of docetaxel in your blood, perhaps making it less effective. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking these medications together.
Cyclosporine (Gengraf, Neoral, Sandimmune)
Combining cyclosporine with docetaxel may increase the level of docetaxel in your blood, increasing your risk of docetaxel side effects. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking these medications together.
Live Vaccinations
Because chemotherapy medications (including docetaxel) can suppress the immune system, it is generally best to avoid live vaccinations while receiving chemotherapy treatment.
Rifamycin Antibiotics
Combining docetaxel with rifamycin antibiotics can affect the level of docetaxel in your blood. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking these medications together.
